Year 2: Sociology and social policy research methods; central problems in sociology; 2 from: crime, law and regulation; disability studies: an introduction; the sociology of gender; sociology of health and illness; racism and ethnicity studies; feminist thinking; new labour and welfare reform; individual, mind and society; men, masculinities and identity; citizenship and welfare; the sociology of the environment; urban disorders, social divisions and social control; contemporary debates in migration; optional modules.
Year 3: Either sociology dissertation or social policy dissertation; 1 of: approaches to social exclusion in later life; housing in urban society; the family, work and welfare in Britain and the United States; optional modules.
