Course Description
The course aims to give trainees a thorough understanding of the methodologies underpinning the effective teaching of Modern Foreign Languages in secondary schools. We aim to enable trainees to become inspiring and creative teachers who convey a genuine enthusiasm for their subject to pupils. The course is delivered in partnership with a wide range of secondary schools in the Merseyside area. It has a practical emphasis, supplying trainees with a wide range of teaching ideas, strategies and resources, as well as a reflective component, enabling trainees to evaluate their experience against an understanding of linguistic and second language-learning theory. All courses are offered at postgraduate level.

For 2007 entry, in England & Wales, ITT providers could charge trainee teachers on postgraduate ITT courses, variable tuition fees, of up to £3070 per year.

Entry Requirements
Degree validated by a UK university or college that contains sufficient breadth and depth in the subject intended for teaching. Students are required to disclose any previous criminal convictions, cautions or bindovers irrespective of when they occurred and agree to a criminal record check through the Criminal Records Bureau or the Scottish Criminal Record Office Disclosure Service. Applicants should indicate the Modular option by entering 'M' under section 3(e) of their application form.
