This course is offered on a non-modular basis; it is intended for graduates with a degree in information technology, computing, business, or related, and industry experience who wish to become teachers of applied information and communication technology in either a secondary school college or college setting; on completion trainees gain qualified teacher status (QTS); the programme focuses on the development of professional and teaching skills coupled with awareness of the information and communication technology (ICT) curriculum and assessments; it focus in particular on the 14-19 age range, including applied GCSE, DiDA, IT Diploma, applied A-levels and vocational courses in ICT; it addresses: web 2.0 technologies as tools for learning and teaching; virtual learning environments (VLE); interactive whiteboards; digital literacy; practical aspects of teaching; the ICT curriculum (11-14 key stage 3); the applied ICT curriculum (14- 19 key stage 4 and 5); collaborative practice; monitoring and assessment of ICT in practice; and developing professional skills and competencies.
