Overview
Richmond Upon Thames College Overview Image

Richmond upon Thames College is situated on a single site in Egerton Road, Twickenham and was established as the first tertiary College in the south east of England in 1977. Today the College has over 6,000 students, of which over 4,500 are full-time students aged 16-19 years old; the College offers these students a wide range of courses and subjects.

Also in its provision is a range of adult courses, many leading to professional qualifications, and a number of higher education courses, some in partnership with Kingston University London and St Mary's University College Twickenham. Our results are amongst the best in further education. In September 2010, we sent 1,167 students to university – in fact, we’re one of the largest suppliers of students to university in the UK.

What's on offer

We offer a wide choice of subjects and courses at different levels catering for all abilities:

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (we are the only state-funded tertiary college in London to offer this programme). It consists of a broad range of predetermined subjects which are studied for two years.
  • 54 different AS/A2-levels (you can study almost any sensible combination).
  • Range of vocational courses including 20 BTEC Extended Diplomas/Diplomas, 16 Level 2 Diplomas and Level 1 Diplomas, NVQs and Apprenticeships.
  • Range of entry level and supported learning courses.

Our Open Access area has 66 computers and the library has 80, both of which students can use in their free time. All students have their own unique user area on our network and receive IT key skills training.

We also have a considerable choice of enrichment activities on offer. For example you could take LAMDA Acting Techniques or the Young Enterprise qualification, join Amnesty International or learn a new language. You could also study STEP Maths or take a course with the Open University's Young Applicants in Schools and Colleges Scheme.

There are many teams for the competitive sports person with regular practices and fixtures against other schools and colleges as well as our very popular sports academies. Alternatively, you may participate in sport just for fun, to keep fit or to be sociable. You could play badminton or join a group for circuit training.
