This award has been designed for experienced supervisors who would like to formally accredit their knowledge and experience, colleagues who are supervising a research student for the first time and colleagues who have not yet had the opportunity to turn their subject expertise into effective supervision; the award introduces students to alternative styles and approaches to supervision as well as providing a review of current issues in postgraduate research supervision and the current regulatory environment; students explore the changing role of a supervisor over the length of the student�s research programme, paying particular attention to the role and nature of the examination process; alternative modes and processes of reflection are introduced and related to professional development and the supervisory process.
