The course is designed for regeneration practitioners working in a wide range of contexts for developing sustainable communities; these include paid employees and community volunteers; work and the workplace are broadly defined here to include voluntary and unpaid activity; the course has a high degree of flexibility, making it perfectly suited to the lifestyle of the working practitioner or busy volunteer; the focus of study is on actions to improve working practices using a fully online programme of inquiry-led learning delivered through online communities; study on this course enables improvements to the development of sustainable communities; this method has no examinations, but students are encouraged to create reports in the most comfortable way; learners are supported and guided to recognise working practice, think about its effectiveness and consider options to improve it; progression through the programme should improve competency and build confidence; learners join a community of other people involved in regeneration and sustainable communities and share knowledge and practice throughout the programme, helping each other to complete the course; during the course students develop intellectual tools and techniques to help inquire into professional practice within the wider context of organisation and regeneration; it also enhances understanding of the inter-disciplinary knowledge and practices in regeneration that are relevant to your work role; students develop the capability to use technology effectively and critically evaluate its use in work; learners also study how to plan, implement and evaluate change strategies for the workplace and develop high-level communication and persuasion skills that are used to present and support these changes; learners examine the history, current practices and possible future developments in the field of regeneration and sustainable communities; and learn to apply research and rigour in approaching problems and opportunities in the workplace; students become a reflective practitioner, able to develop practice based on evidence and analysis.
Study on the course is broken down into modules totalling 360 credits; each module enables learners to examine aspects of work practice. Level 1 (120 credits): Core modules (choose 20 credits): Introduction to regeneration (20 credits) or investigating the professional context (20 credits); option modules (choose 100 credits): Technology for communication and organisation (20 credits); understanding action inquiry (40 credits); understanding reflective practice (40 credits); working in groups for regeneration practitioners (20 credits). Level 2 (120 credits): Option modules (choose 120 credits): Action in the work context (40 credits); communication for regeneration practitioners (20 credits); independent lifelong learning (20 credits); organisational impact (20 credits); reflection on practice (40 credits). Level 3 (120 credits): Core module: Exhibition, validation and synthesis (40 credits); option modules (choose 80 credits): Financial management for regeneration professionals (20 credits); implement action inquiry project (20 credits); partnership working for regeneration professionals (20 credits); review and planning (20 credits); action inquiry project preparation (40 credits).
