Property managers or estate managers are experts in investment and valuation of land and property, they arrange funding and advise on legal implications; the course develops the ability to pursue a career in this diverse area of surveying; the course enables students to apply for assessment of technical competence with the RICS (Royal Institute for Chartered Surveyors) and to qualify as a technical surveyor (Tech RICS).
Year 1: Core: an introduction to technology and design; learning and skills development in higher education and work; understanding the work sector (built environment); introduction to civil law and legislation; surveying practice; construction economics; land surveying. Year 2: Core: environmental services and construction technology; management practice; law of property; valuations 1; condition surveys and defects analysis; planning procedures and practice.
