Putney School of Art and Design (PSAD) is a purpose-built Art School, with a reputation for the high quality of its teaching and a strong sense of community. PSAD offers a range of challenging, stimulating and enjoyable courses in the visual arts. Because the school is small and dedicated to art, it does not have the institutional feel of so many adult education centres, making for a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere. PSAD welcomes beginners and more experienced students, who wish to learn, and who wish to practise and enjoy their art.
What's on offer
The School offers students the opportunity to realise their creative potential in the visual arts in an accessible and friendly environment.
Our part-time students at the school come from very diverse backgrounds. They come here to learn and to practise their art, in an atmosphere condusive to study and enjoyment. Classes are a full three hours, and take place mornings, afternoons and in the evening, six days a week. There are also courses available for those wishing a more structured form of art study, and those seeking to prepare for a degree course, including a Diploma Course in Art and Design.
The school prides itself on keeping bureaucracy to a minimum, freeing students to concentrate on the practical and the hands-on. Many of the courses use London's high quality galleries and museums for study visits. And the school also boasts excellent facilities. It has a magnificent Victorian drawing studio, a well-equipped pottery, a fine art library, a cafe gallery, plus contemporary printmaking and computer design studios. Specialist courses in book illustration, ceramic sculpture, and lithography are also offered.
PSAD is very interested in hearing the views of its students. As a student here you would be formally consulted, and informally listened to, regarding the courses and services on offer.
