The Publishing Training Centre at Book House (PTC) was established more than 25 years ago, originally as part of the Publishers Association. It is the first port of call for publishers all over the UK and overseas who want their staff trained to the highest standards. As an educational charity, any surplus The Publishing Training Centre at Book House makes is ploughed back into developing and improving its services. Its primary aim is to promote excellence in the industry.

As well as offering training courses, Publishing Training Centre at Book House is the publisher of the National Occupational Standards in Book Publishing. It also has a limited amount of publishing careers information on its website. The Publishing Training Centre at Book House is a member of the Association of Bookseller and Publisher Training Organisations in Europe and has been involved in a number of projects over the years to improve publishing standards worldwide.

What's on offer
Publishing Training Centre at Book House is best known for offering high quality training in subjects such as proofreading and editing, primarily within the book and journal publishing industries. However, it now does much more than this, running courses in subjects such as copyright, leadership and marketing, to a much wider range of organisations, including charities, PLCs and government departments. Indeed, there is now a range of courses specifically aimed at companies outside book publishing.
