This course provides a platform for the study of psychology, including health and social care, and has been designed to provide a suitable platform for the study of psychology or a related area of study at a level. The WJEC specification requires candidates to consider individual, moral, ethical, social, cultural and contemporary issues. The syllabus builds upon the knowledge, understanding and skills acquired at key stage 4 in a wide range of subjects. The subjects will include those studied as part of the national curriculum such as science, Maths and English. Topics include social, biological and developmental psychology; cognitive psychology; individual differences; and ethics and research issues in psychology.
Students should be aged between 16 to 18 years and they should have obtained at least four Ds in their GCSEs, including English or Maths.
