This course focuses on the issues surrounding education and training for all those involved in the design, delivery and management of education and training whether in the public or private sectors; primarily it is designed for specialists in technical, vocational and professional education and training, but is also open to those working in the general education sector; these are broad areas which can range from health practitioners through to agricultural specialists, for example, and everything in between; whether the individual is a teacher, head of department, fieldwork trainer, principal or administrator, this course may be suitable; the course is designed to prepare participants for leadership roles or, for those already in such roles, to improve their performance; while the course provides underpinning theory to inform performance, most modules will also involve an element of applied practice; this course provides a distinct pathway for practitioner teachers and trainers, managers and administrators from the wider technical, vocational and professional sectors to further their professional development; the course provides opportunities for like-minded professionals to meet and exchange ideas and experiences in a challenging and stimulating educational environment; students learn how to apply a range of skills associated with teaching and management in a vocational and professional setting; this includes theoretical knowledge integrated with more job related knowledge as applied to practice; this mix of underpinning knowledge and practical skills is designed to help you build up your competencies in planning, organising and managing teaching and learning within a specific context; through a combination of formal presentations, group discussions, case study activity, and small group and individual presentations, learners explore issues relevant to individual contextual and cultural background.
Modules include: reflective thinking; research methodology and fieldwork; changes in technology (information computer technology); management of education; outcomes based training; education, health and development; inclusion and diversity.
