The programme route aims to enable professionals from a wide range of backgrounds to develop the skills and knowledge required to become competent practitioners and leaders in the field of public service management; to develop their professional skills, knowledge and understanding though work, and to demonstrate the acquisition of skills, knowledge and understanding required of a graduate; the programme is structured to enable key learning outcomes to be achieved throughout the course of the programme; the programme aims to give you: the ability to evaluate research, evidence-based sources, learning and experience to make informed judgments, find solutions and initiate and carry out projects; a systematic understanding of concepts, models and approaches in public service management; the interpersonal and group skills necessary for working with children, young people, families, carers and colleagues; the competence to apply ethical codes and values to situations and choices that may be complex and ambiguous.
Core modules: integrated working; personal and people development; using research knowledge; reflective and critical practice (Dissertation module);work-based project; route-specific modules. Route-specific modules: management, leadership and change; public policy and law.
