This course enables rigorous academic investigation into education, with the objective of supporting your professional development in the field; at its heart is how, as an educational professional, students put advanced theories into practice; students learn how to explore educational research and make informed comment on the applicability, relevance and usefulness of theories, concepts, models, methodologies and techniques applied to practice.
Research Awareness and Support Skills (20 credits) or, where more appropriate, Research Methods - Field Studies (20 credits); Organisational Management (20 credits); Curriculum Studies (20 credits); plus 3 modules from the following (2 from any subject group to receive a named award): stand-alone modules: work-based module A: developments; work-based module B: case study; educational finance and planning; educational management modules: human resource management; marketing; e-learning for educationalists modules: information communication technology in education; computer-supported collaborative learning and e-tutoring; inclusive education modules: the struggle for inclusive education; transformative education in an inclusive context; technical and vocational education modules: research methods: field studies; vocational education and development; the concept and implementation of design and technology; competency-based training in vocational education; staff development and appraisal in vocational education; information technology: the impact on technical education; plus a dissertation.
