Monoprinting is a one-off print and here the method will be using oil paints and a press. This is a versatile way of printmaking and does not involve the complexities of making an edition. It is a creative process lending itself to experimentation and is favored by many artists. The 3 days could produce as many as 10 successful prints. One of the attractions of monoprinting is the surface qualities. Colours have a special richness and transparency. The technique captures the original painterly marks applied to the plate without loosing any freshness. Monoprints can be worked up in stages and in a series . An image can be overprinted and built up in layers and stencils can be used as well. Sometimes images go through the press once and others a number of times. WHAT TO BRING ? This is an oportunity to work from a painting or a set of drawings or studies. You can also work from any group of objects in the studio or any ideas you may have. The issue of what to work from is not that critical as the process soon takes over. MATERIALS The course fees include £20 worth of materials, paints and paper. The studio has a good supply of extra paper and paint to purchase if needs be. . .
