In this course students will develop their awareness of the principles and practice of screenwriting, and explore the relationship between the visual medium and storytelling for film. Encouraging a creative and analytical approach to their work and the work of others, this module focuses on developing the basics of screenwriting practice, looking at key dramatic elements including dialogue, plot, scene-building and narrative structure. They will complete a short screenplay, devise and refine a character profile, and learn the industry conventions of the screenplay format.
