This four day course provides a rapid and wide-ranging survey of polymer science and illustrates the application of the science to the processing and use of plastics and rubber materials. It emphasises the unity of polymer materials and the relationships between polymer formation, polymer structure, processing and uses. Teaching will be largely by means of lectures and discussions, with no formal practical work, but there will be the opportunity for participants to inspect and have demonstrated some of the wide range of polymer equipment available in the Centre.
