This course is offered on a non-modular basis; includes a General Professional element which covers the role of the professional teacher, the child as learner and wider issues associated with school and society; child development, classroom organisation and management, assessment, recording and reporting and classroom relationships are some of the key areas of skills and understanding that students develop; mandatory subject modules prepare students to teach English, mathematics and science in Key Stages 1 and 2, and, especially in the case of Advanced Early Years students, in nursery and reception classes; foundation subjects and religious education are also covered.
