Anybody who wants to commence teaching in adult education. This is an introductory course, and requires no prior knowledge. Attendance at College for one three hour session per week, for 12 weeks. Assessment and certification are dependent on the completion of a portfolio containing 9 assignments, together with an assessed micro-teach. Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS Level 3/4 City & Guilds) The course will be taught by an experienced teacher trainer, who will use a range of teaching activities, including lectures, group work, discussion, role play, demonstration and observation. Individual tutorials are also included throughout this course. The qualification is designed to enable candidates to: Adopt an integrated approach to the theory and practice of teaching/training and tutoring Reflect on their own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills and areas for development. Identify principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation Develop communication and inter-personal skills Develop an awareness of their professional role and responsibilities. The course will be taught by an experienced teacher trainer, who will use a range of teaching activities, including lectures, group work, discussion, role play, demonstration and observation. Individual tutorials are also included throughout this course. On completion students can apply for the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Level 4), for teachers currently in an associate role, or the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (level 5/6) for those in a full teaching role. This role involves planning for, and delivery to, groups of learners, using a range of materials and methods.
