Pre-registration learning disabilities: The course enables students to work as a learning disabilities nurse with both children and adults in a variety of mainly community settings, ranging from residential homes, supported living provision, specialist behavioural and/or assessment units, to working as part of a community learning disability team; as a specialist nurse students are able to develop an individual package of care designed to offer the appropriate levels of support to meet the needs of the person with learning disabilities.
