Course Description
This course is credit valued by the University of Portsmouth at 120 Level M points and can be used as a stepping stone to the Universitys MSc in Internet Systems Development. It is aimed at business/IT professionals and students who have first degrees in computing or related disciplines, and want to become involved in Software Solutions matters. It will also benefit people from other areas who wish to gain maximum value from Software Development projects, within their areas of interest. It is especially valuable for those in programming and liaison (Project Managers and Team Leaders) roles and those involved in planning and implementing organisational change. The course is designed to equip students with the capability to exploit information in order to enhance the performance of industry. It also provides the software development skills, which will meet the challenges of designing, implementing and managing information systems projects in the 21st century. Students will be able to identify the business issues that are critical to the successful application of IT and analyse, design, implement and manage the use of IS within a business environment by using modern tools, techniques, architectures and emerging technologies. The students will specialise in Microsoft.NET and will cover areas such as IT Infrastructure & Information Architecture, Software Architectural & Application Design, Corporate e-Solutions Development, Database Engineering and Project Management.

Entry Requirements
A good first degree in Computing OR A good first degree in other disciplines with post-degree work experience or relevant experience in Information Technology, OR Other qualifications and experience will be considered. Students who have degrees in other disciplines may need to undergo an Access to Postgraduate Computing programme to develop their Computing skills.
