Course Description
Sculpture is a dynamic and rapidly changing discipline within the field of visual art. Historically British sculpture has heavily influenced the way we look at, and view, the world, challenging sculptural norms at the forefront of cultural debate. On this MA pathway, you will have the opportunity to realise your creative potential, and to critically appraise current visual art trends. Our curriculum develops practical knowledge and transferable skills within a studio-based environment. There are opportunities to explore ideas and interests across the full range of media, including web-based works, video and photography. You will have access to our casting, metal and woodworking facilities together with outdoor and site-specific areas. The programme offers excellent training for a career as a practising artist or in related areas, such as theatre, TV set and web design. You will also develop broader skills, such as problem solving and entrepreneurship, which are highly valued in the management sector. The pathway also provides a solid foundation for research and PhD study. On the course, you will have the opportunity to develop a range of skills, including: Problem solving; Research and critical analysis; Creative and lateral thinking; Organisational and teamwork; Exhibition management, catalogue and invitation production; Health and safety; IT and library; Use of hand, power and plant machinery tools; Construction, casting and building techniques.

Course Fees
Fees for 2007/08: £3,240 (subject to increase for 08/09, typical fees may rise by around three per cent each year)

Entry Requirements
Second-class honours degree or higher or equivalent qualification/experience. For international students IELTS 6.0 or equivalent is also required. Practical and creative artistic ability, demonstrated in a portfolio will also be a determining factor for entry.
