Course Description
The Department of Electronic Imaging and Media Communications runs a taught postgraduate programme which offers three Master's courses. The courses follow the standard pattern with a parallel Postgraduate Diploma. These programmes of study aim to enable students to develop, at an advanced level, knowledge, skill and understanding within the field of Electronic Imaging and Media Communication, in order to equip them to become well-qualified professionals to be able to take a lead in developing and exploiting existing and emerging media technologies. The aim of the Creative Media and Technologies Master's course is to provide opportunities for students to gain a sound understanding of the concepts, systems and methodologies, alongside development of practical abilities and discipline skills appertaining to the field of study. It also provides opportunities for students to apply specialist skills and knowledge across specific areas of study, and to demonstrate critical judgement, research ability and proficiency in project management. Further personal transferable skills are developed as a core thread throughout the courses.
Course Fees
Standard 2007/08 taught & research fees for home/EU students (subject to a small increase for 2008/09): £3240. Exceptions arise in Management, Interpreting & Translation, Education, Informatics and Pharmacy. Part-time taught courses begin at £1620, whilst MBA courses range between £2000 & £5800 (initial stage); part-time research courses also begin at £1620, whilst Management programmes range from £2080 to £9360 (initial DBA fees). Entry Requirements
Normally, a good honours degree in any relevant discipline; or else in any subject, together with skills and experience in a relevant area. Overseas students will generally be expected to have he equivalent of a UK second-class honours degree. English language requirements: IELTS/TOEFL scores of 6/550 (computer/internet-based 220/83), as a minimum requirement.
