Course Description
The programme is designed to prepare people for a career, in the development of internet applications. As a prelude to specialised study of internet application development, students will build on a foundation, of a general introduction to IT systems and software development; the project focussing on the area of internet application development. The possibility of mobile applications is also explored. Two of the primary aims of the course are, to provide understanding of application and technical architectures, for internet applications and to experience modern development tools & methods for internet applications. Should students decide to proceed to the MSc award, they will need to complete eight taught modules and the dissertation. Alternatively, successful completion of the following modules, alone, will suffice for the Postgraduate Diploma award: Object Oriented Analysis and Design; Programming Principles and Practice; Web Design and Authoring; Database Systems; IT Infrastructure and the Internet; Internet Server Development; Internet Client Development and One Option Module.

Entry Requirements
Good honours degree or equivalent. Applicants with other qualifications and appropriate experience may be accepted for the Postgraduate Diploma and if successful, they may continue for an MSc. Exceptionally, substantial relevant experience alone may be accepted for entry to the Diploma. Applicants are normally expected to attend the University for an Interview.
