Course Description
This course aims at providing appropriate graduates with an understanding of the practical aspects and theoretical background in the area of Computing and internet technologies, as well as gaining exposure to the application of these concepts in the development of software. Students completing this course will have complemented their original background with an understanding of the fundamentals underpinning Computing and its applications. They will be able to describe the operation of such software systems, apply the related principles into the implementation of properly engineered software, and understand the drivers for future trends. Semester 1; Broadband Communication Systems; Introduction to Databases; Advanced Software Design; Networking and the Internet; Project Foundations and Management Tools; Java Programming 1. Semester 2 Technologies for Internet Systems; Introduction to Agent Oriented Systems; Software and Architecture; Project Foundations and Management Tools; Java Programming 2; Software Hut. Semester 3; MSc Project and Dissertation.

Entry Requirements
An honours degree in a non-computing discipline. Students with a computing background are expected to apply for the MSc in Computer Systems instead.
