Course Description
This full-time course lasts 12 months. It consists of a taught part (nine modules, 90 credits) in the first two terms with examinations in April/May. You then concentrate full-time on a major individual project (90 credits) for the remainder of the year, leading to a dissertation in your chosen area of specialisation. The taught programme offers the following eight compulsory modules: Statistical Pattern Analysis; Algorithms and Computational Mathematics; Research Methodology & Practical Computation; Object-Oriented Software Skills; Data Mining; Cluster Computing; Object-Oriented Software Process; Internet Software Development. One elective module is chosen from: Artificial Neural Networks; andTime Series Analysis.

Assessment method
The taught modules are assessed by a combination of coursework and examinations, and a dissertation and an end-product demonstration with oral examination are required for the major project. To complete the MSc course successfully, a student must satisfy the criteria both in the taught part and the major project.
Entry Requirements
A good Honours Degree or equivalent in an appropriate numerate subject or computing degree with mathematical content (including some calculus and linear algebra) is required. Students holding overseas degrees are very welcome and their degree qualifications are assessed in accordance with their referees' comments and our long established experience in working with international students. Overseas applicants will also need to demonstrate English language ability (eg. IELTS 6.5, TOEFL score of 600 or equivalent).
