Course Description
This course is designed to follow on directly from the Diploma, consolidating and extending individual artistic practice through further focused research and professional development. Students are expected to develop a high level of proficiency and self-direction. The course comprises three key aspects, Studio, Art Theory and Contextual Studies and Professional Practice. The studio component is aimed at developing students personal artistic vision. Students are expected to investigate an area of interest, producing work of an original nature that culminates in the post graduate exhibition. This component is cross-disciplinary, involving group critiques, presentations and individual tutorials. Students will have studio space, access to workshop faculties and access to other components run across the school. The Art Theory and Contextual Studies component is a combination of lectures and seminars. Students will be required to research and write a thesis, which is intended to enhance theoretical knowledge in support of studio practice. The Professional Practice component will equip students to participate confidently in the world as professional artists. Visiting tutors and arts professionals including gallery owners, funding bodies representatives and tax advisors. The component involves research and presentations.
