Course Description
The course places emphasis on self awareness through experiental work and explores various forms of oppression (e.g. homophobia, racism, sexism and disability discrimination). You will examine how the helping professions and organisations help perpetuate dynamics of oppression. This Post Graduate Certificate in 'Working with Diversity' aims to integrate knowledge of social and institutional dynamics with awareness of your own identity and prejudices in order to develop anti-oppressive relationships within your work setting. This course includes four 2 day workshops with an additional day for assignment supervision. This course caters for continuing professional development. Successful completion of the course results in a Postgraduate Certificate in Working with Diversity which is 60 credit points at level M. This could be used towards MA Psychological Therapies (180 credit points).

Entry Requirements
This university offers opportunities to all who are able and willing to benefit from the course. Applicants need to be currently working in a helpful profession (full or part time) and need to have at least two year's experience. Evidence of prior learning may be asked for on application. This course is intended for people in the helping professions (e.g. support work, social work, counselling, nursing) who at least two years experience. It is designed for anyone who needs to form working relationships with clients and who wants to develop anti-oppressive practice.
