Course Description
The overall aims of the programme, are to: enable students to make critical assessments of technology and its application; develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of students, so that they can contribute at a high level to the creation and adoption of a systematic, professional and quality approach to security systems development; identify the appropriate role for security technologies in developing and implementing IT systems; provide students with the skills and knowledge to make a significant contribution to security research activities. The programme has a strong technical content, incorporating a number of software and security engineering modules. In addition, the areas of professionalism, ethics and project management are included. You will undertake a project normally sponsored by a real world client in which you will be developing a product that has a real world benefit to the client. Note that the majority of the project phase can be undertaken anywhere in the world where adequate communication facilities are available.

Entry Requirements
Applications are welcome from holders of a good honours degree (2:2 or above) or equivalent in the computing or IT discipline. International students must demonstrate a good command of the English language and normally would have to undertake an IELTS examination or equivalent. Students who do not possess the necessary English language grade (6.0) will be required to gain further English language tuition prior to starting the programme.
