Course Description
Consider the damage that a hacker can do if they broke into the network of a large organisation. Funds could be syphoned off, trade secrets could be stolen, intellectual property could be stolen, in fact the organisation could be ruined. How do these hackers break in? How easy is it to get into your servers? Can your network traffic be captured and read? During this course, you will use the latest tools and techniques to break into networks, servers and PCs. This course will teach you the skills of a hacker in order that you can protect your servers, networks and PCs. The aim of this course is to provide a student with sufficient knowledge of how computer attacks are delivered so they can defend against them. In the same way as the police or security guards protect property by knowing the tricks of the burglar, you will learn the tricks of the hacker in order to protect an organisation's vital IT infrastructure. Students will come to the course with some technical knowledge of computing and will learn details of computer networking, network security and penetration testing, encryption, forensic computing all set in an ethical and legal environment.
