Course Description
This programme aims to allow those with an existing qualification in IT and/or extensive experience of the IT industry to specialise in the development of secure enterprise applications. To remain competitive enterprises must deploy leading-edge IT solutions. Enterprises require information systems that are secure, distributed, interoperable, intelligent, and adaptive to change. The MSc in Enterprise Systems Security aims to show how techniques from information system engineering and computer science can address these needs. The course is designed to impart sound engineering principles for the development and management of secure enterprise information systems. Enterprise Developers work with business analysts, application assemblers, and administrators to develop distributed enterprise software components that model an Organization's practices, processes and concepts. Enterprise Developers take responsibility for securing, developing and deploying software in the distributed computing environment typical of large corporations. Complex environments of this type require developers to integrate numerous systems and enterprise-wide applications by providing mission-critical services that are highly scalable, highly available, highly secure, transactional and distributed. The MSc in Enterprise Systems Security is compatible with the certification paths of Sun Microsystems, Oracle and IBM.

Entry Requirements
An Honours degree or above from a UK University or equivalent in Computer Science or cognate discipline. A degree in any discipline together with significant computer experience. Applicants in this category must have the prerequisites required for the modules in their chosen stream. Such candidates will be expected to be able to demonstrate a level of previous experience and capability which is broadly comparable to that developed from a degree level programme of study in computing. An Honours degree or professional qualification in any discipline together with the Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) certification. Those students possessing English as a second language will be required to demonstrate competency via such qualifications as IELTS or TOEFL, with respective scores of 6.0 or 550.
