Course Description
Rapid advances in communication and digital technologies have changed the very nature of the design world. Traditional boundaries between media, practice, culture and design disciplines have merged, creating exciting new opportunities for designers to embrace interdisciplinary approaches. This course will encourage you to experiment with highly distinctive and challenging forms and ideas of design communication. It is designed for students from a broad range of cultures and design backgrounds. You will be encouraged to critically analyse your own practice in relation to contemporary issues and theories of communication design from a local and global perspective. This will enable you to challenge conventions, production methods and your audience while developing your own personal practice and ideas. Subjects covered on the course include mass communication, multi-lingual typography, digital media, web-based communications, visual communication and entrepreneurship. Visiting professionals and guest speakers will share their experiences with you, complemented by study visits, lectures and seminars. You will develop the skills and knowledge required to build a career in the design and communication sector, enabling you to respond positively and flexibly to the dynamics of the industry. The course also provides a solid foundation for successful entrepreneurship and creative employment at management-entry level. Core focus areas include: Corporate communication; Publishing; Multi-lingual typographic design; Brand identity; Lens and digital imaging; Entrepreneurship; Moving image; Interactive design; Consultancy.

Entry Requirements
Second class Honours degree or higher or equivalent qualification/experience; English IELTS 6.0 or above or equivalent for overseas applicants.
