Course Description
This program stresses a foundation in Mass Communication Theory; Design, Production and Application of Media messages; Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods of Mass Communication. These three core areas of curriculum concentration combine to foster critically thinking; the ability to communicate clearly, both written and oral; Understanding the relations between theory and research, and it sapplication; the development of independent and original research; the analysis of issues relevant to investigation. At the present time the Mass Communications Department is able to mentor students who wish to specialize in Media theory and practice; Media cultural studies; Media campaigns; Media management; Media law; Media research method; Media ethics; History of mass media; Documentary media.

Assessment method
Modules are assessed by a combination of assignments and examinations or project examinations. Upon successful completion of the taught part of the programme, students progress to the dissertation which is a graded component.

Entry Requirements
This course is open to candidates with a good first degree (Lower Second or above) from a recognised university. There is no requirement relating to the subject of the first degree. High level professional qualifications may also be accepted. The School also assists students whose first language is not English through close co-operation with the University’s English Language Institute.
