Course Description
This course will encourage you to experiment with highly distinctive and challenging forms and ideas of design communication. It is designed for students from a broad range of cultures and design backgrounds. You will be encouraged to critically analyse your own practice in relation to contemporary issues and theories of communication design from a local and global perspective. This will enable you to challenge conventions, production methods and your audience, while developing your personal practice and ideas. Visiting professionals and guest speakers will share their experiences with you, complemented by study visits, lectures and seminars. The programme enables you to think of Communication Design as a means to nurture your own entrepreneurial venture, or to join the industry at management level. Core focus areas include: brand identity; entrepreneurship; digital editing; applied image-making; lens and digital imaging; multilingual typographic design; publishing; advertising, planning and strategy; management of design; art direction

Course Fees
Fees for 2007/08: £3,240 (subject to increase for 08/09, typical fees may rise by around three per cent each year). Special Pathway Scholarships apply - contact the school for further details. Funding from AHRC Research Council can be applied for with early application to the School by 12 April.

Entry Requirements
Second-class honours degree or higher or equivalent qualification/experience. For international students IELTS 6.0 or equivalent is also required. Practical and creative artistic ability, demonstrated in a portfolio will also be a determining factor for entry.
