This course aims to prepare registered nurses to practise in a variety of rural and remote settings to meet the mental health needs of a diversity of clients. Graduates of the course will be able to work primarily as an independent practitioner within a multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary environment. Skills acquisition will continue throughout the semester in the students' mental health nursing work area, and attainment of mastery of competence will be evaluated by suitably experienced and qualified mental health nurses.
