Course Description
It is a multi-disciplinary taught programme focusing on business and management in the Chinese context. These include, for example, Chinese-owned and foreign-owned businesses operating in China, as well as Chinese multinational firms operating outside China. The programme examines in depth a wide range of issues related to Chinese business and management and its cultural and institutional environment. It draws on disciplinary knowledge from economics, organisational behaviour, human resource management, marketing, supply chain management, politics and cultural studies. Students also receive a thorough grounding in social science research issues and methods, including techniques of quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and interpretation. The programme consists of eight subject-specific course units and one Masters dissertation on a Chinese business and management related topic. It takes a comparative and international approach to the study of Chinese business and management issues. In other words, China is not studied in isolation but in the global context.
