Course Description
This course will teach the skills used in state-of-the-art algorithms for computer vision and image processing, advanced methods for pattern recognition and 3D reconstruction, and a range of signal-processing techniques. Emphasis is put on teaching fundamental algorithms of wide applicability within signal processing in general. The programme will also provide a range of transferable skills, including C++ programming, numerical and statistical techniques, and analytical and design skills. Students will have hands-on experience in developing a range of intelligent imaging applications and gain essential team and research skills. It enables the independent development of image-processing and computer vision systems for real world problems and prepares students both for industry and research study in intelligent imaging.

Assessment method
The Research Methods module (worth two units) is assessed through coursework alone. The other taught modules (each worth one unit) are examined through a combination of coursework and written examinations. The MSc project (worth four units) is assessed on the basis of a written dissertation and oral examination.
Entry Requirements
A good first degree (first or upper-second class honours) with a substantial computer science component or equivalent industrial experience.
