You may have a laptop or you may have a canvas and a palette. Either way, you need ideas and some procedure of handling form to enable you to express anything. This week is a stimulating workshop of practical projects designed to trigger your imagination, help to develop different ways of seeing and to offer you a set of options to process the images you create. We work with a variety of source material including natural forms, photographs, text and museum artefacts. You will gain experience of drawing to gather information; this includes slow and quick drawing, and selective drawing, and you will use a variety of media including charcoal, ink, torn paper, photocopies, coloured crayon and monoprint to transform raw material in visually interesting ways. The success of this course is due to the diversity of the people who attend and the exciting atmosphere that is created. It is an environment to tease out ideas and to produce satisfying images whilst learning basic skills.
