This 4-year physical geography and Australasia degree programme lets students explore in depth the physical and environmental aspects of geography; they acquire a wide range of skills for both geography and future careers through the courses, focusing particularly on field and laboratory techniques for analysing and understanding physical processes and how human action can affect these; students spend their third academic year at a leading Australian or New Zealand university geography department and return to Lancaster for specialist physical geography courses and a dissertation.
Year 1: Core modules; geographical skills and application in a changing world; environmental processes and systems. Year 2: Core modules; techniques; concepts; earth surface processes; interacting landscapes: biogeography and geomorphology; plus 2 from: investigating mediterranean environments; environment and society; natural resources and sustainable development; communicating geography; glacier- landscape interactions; enterprise for the environment. Year 3: Overseas placement. Year 4: Core module; dissertation.
