Course Description
The Digital Film Making Programme is for anyone who wants to professionally realise their creative vision and expression using digital film as a medium. This course offers practical training using professional equipment and technology supported by relevant theoretical background knowledge. The Digital Film Making Diploma Programme covers all necessary aspects of computer-based video production techniques and presents students with a complete and far-reaching education. The course content and structure encourage students to learn the theoretical background to the topics covered and to apply this, creatively, to the production process. Individual practical time and experimentation is an essential component of the course. Students will have a broad, yet focused, understanding and skill-set in all of the main areas related to film production and post production. The course also ensures that students will have the necessary skills to continue developing and adapting to the changes in this fast-paced industry. Essential skills and techniques are taught in a creative atmosphere with a strong emphasis on the practical application of design and theoretical concepts. Course content includes: Digital Video Basics; Editing Techniques; Camera Operation; Project Planning and Management; Digital Audio; Advanced Editing and Lighting; Special FX, Compositing and 3D; DVD Authoring and Delivery Formats; Industry Issues.

Assessment method
The SAE Digital Film Making Diploma is widely recognised in the film and media industries. The assessment is split equally over practical work and theory. The theoretical component is made up of a number of progress tests as well as a major final examination and project. The practical element includes the on-going presentation of a range of documented projects. In order to qualify for the Digital Film Making Diploma, candidates need to reach an overall assessed grade of 16 or above.
Entry Requirements
Minimum age of 17 or adult entry over 21 years of age. Spoken and written English. Applicants need to complete a Assessment Form. Applicants are also encouraged to submit any material or examples that they feel demonstrates their desire to visually express themselves.
