This practical one-day course will use the camera lens to explore the diversity and changing face of East London, while at the same time improving your photography skills. Starting at Bishopsgate Institute, the course will include practical exercises, covering compositional and photographic techniques. You will have a chance to explore some of the historic material held in the Bishopsgate Library archive, including maps and photographs of East London. In the afternoon, you will be guided through parts of East London, receiving one-to-one guidance from your tutor on how to best capture the images around you. The course will finish at Bishopsgate Institute, where you will review a selection of the day's work as a group. Equipment required: A camera with manual functions, preferably an SLR.
