Year 1: Students explore the technologies of chemical and digital photography, putting them in context through sound historical and conceptual teaching as well as thorough technical workshops. Year 2: Students begin to develop their own visual language with which to express their ideas with increasing confidence; projects reflect this by being more expansive and underpinned with more rigorous critical discourse; students become more independent in their practice and ideas. Year 3: Self-directed: students propose a final major project, which includes a semester of project planning and research together with a rigorous professional practice lecture series leading to the production of a major body of work; students also research and produce major written text, which is, typically, an exploration of some of the themes relevant to the final major project.
