The course introduces students to some of the current debates in the philosophy of religion; it also enables students to fill gaps in their undergraduate study of philosophy, and enable those who have read theology and/ or religious studies at undergraduate level to pursue philosophical issues arising from their studies; in addition, the course enables students to pursue a personal interest in a specialised area of philosophy by taking an appropriate optional module, as well as developing their skills in the practice of independent research in a specialised area of philosophy; the course comprises 120 credits of taught modules, and a 12-15,000-word research dissertation (60 credits).
Core modules: contemporary readings in philosophy and metaphysical issues in philosophy of religion; optional modules: from a list of modules offered by history and philosophy of science; philosophy; and theology and religious studies.
