The University of Liverpool offers a Russell Group education in one of the UK’s most exciting and affordable student cities.
The programme rearticulates ancient conceptions of philosophy as a way of life within contemporary analytical and continental environments; its rationale is the recent resurgence of interest in such conceptions, centring around rhetorics of 'happiness' and 'well-being', deriving in part from the huge popularity of the work of Pierre Hadot; the course explores the analogy between philosophy as a treatment for the soul and medicine as a cure for the body.
6 core modules (including a dissertation on an aspect of philosophy as a way of life); 3 elective modules totalling 45 credits.
