Philosophy introduces you to some important and exciting ideas and puzzles both old and new that have shaped human intellectual history. On the course you will be exploring philosophical questions such as: am I free or is my future already determined for me? Am I the same person today as I was last week? What is art and why do we value it? In thinking about these issues, you will look at ancient as well as modern philosophers. In your first year, you will study four themes. In your second year, you will study two themes and a central philosophical text. You will learn how to think independently and how to construct and examine arguments. You will also learn how to read critically and how to write well-structured essays.
Average points score of 5.5 from your best 8 GCSEs OR 6 GCSEs plus 1 vocational qualification (equivalent to a maximum of 2 GCSEs and 10 points) including English GCSE at grade C.
