About this course

Yoga is a discipline which deals with the subtleties of life. It is an inward journey, a path of self-discovery and self-transformation. From the earliest beginnings of history in India, the purpose of yoga has been to instruct and guide the practitioner to go beyond self or ego-personality, to connect with the Ultimate Reality. This course allows yoga practitioners to explore the essential spirituality and ethical aspects of this ancient tradition through study and reflection on sacred and classical literature such as the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, the Upanshads, the Yoga Sutra and the Hatha Yoga texts. The course content will cover the three paths of yoga, namely, Karma, Bhakti and Jnana marga with a view to understanding the practice of self-transcendence through surrender of ego. The course aims to provide a deeper understanding of yoga philosophy and spirituality to support the discipline of postural movements (asana) and meditation. The course commences in September 2010 and lasts 3 months One lecture a week of 3 hours duration and supported distance learning. Fees: £1,500
