Course Description
The programme provides training in pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, drug synthesis, the principles of formulation, methods to identify potential drug targets and drug candidates, and methods to assess the biological activities of drug compounds. Additional modules cover the key techniques in analytical chemistry used to support research in the pharmaceutical sciences. Compulsory Modules: Information and Communication Skills; Professional Skills; Liquid Phase Separations; Gas Phase Separations; Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Analysis; Drug Design and Synthesis; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism; Drug Presentation; and Product Evaluation Drugs: Targets and Actions; Industrial Training Project. Optional Modules: Bioanalysis, Molecular Spectroscopy; Atomic Spectroscopy; Process Analysis; and Automation Materials Analysis.

Examination and coursework. Industrial Training Project (40 credits).
Entry Requirements
An Honours degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a closely related subject. Other qualifications may be considered if the candidate has relevant industrial experience.
