Course Description
The programme is constituted by combining compulsory and optional modules and a project module. Part time students would normally undertake the research project module at work, with appropriate supervision arrangements. The project is then of benefit to both student and employer. Compulsory Modules: Pharmaceutical Engineering Practice; Pharmaceutical Particle Science (distance learning); Batch Processing; Batch Mixing of Fluids and Particles; Filtration and Isolation; Batch Separations and Downstream Processing; Drug Design & Synthesis; MSc Project. Optional Modules (select two): Colloid Engineering; Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Analysis; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism; Drug Presentation and Product Evaluation; Drugs Targets and Actions; Structure in Chemical Products; Hazard Identification, Consequence Analysis and Risk Assessment.

Assessment method
Modules: Examination and/or coursework. Research project: dissertation and oral examination. The pass mark for credit in all cases is 50% and for the taught modules there is a 40% minimum performance level.
Entry Requirements
Honours degree in engineering or physical sciences: other academic or professional qualifications, supplemented by appropriate industrial experience, will be considered individually.
