Course Description
This programme is designed to provide science and engineering graduates with an opportunity to undertake further study to give them a specialism in the petroleum industry. Students will be able to develop their own understanding of the nature of petroleum constituents, the chemistry of conversion processes and the engineering issues in the refinery process. Students have the opportunity to take part in industry visits and lectures by petroleum specialists as well as carrying out industrially related dissertation projects. Subjects covered in this course include the analysis of petroleum products, the refinery process, corrosion and petroleum chemistry. Mass and energy balances are also covered, with application to the refinery process. Computer-based simulation and modelling of processes and economics are applied to teal problems and explored in detail.

At least a 2:2 honours degree, corporate membership of an apppropriate chartered institution or equivalent relevant qualification.
