Course Description
This postgraduate programme has been developed in collaboration with industry and reflects the changing emphasis towards the more efficient management and redevelopment of existing fields and the application of new technologies in developing fields. The course has been designed to have relevance to engineers to allow them to more effectively exploit leading edge technologies whilst gaining a specialist Masters degree. This is a practical, production focussed course for engineers who already have some relevant oil and gas industry experience and who want to enhance their employability by moving their careers forward in this specialist direction. The course covers wells and related production facilities, whether on land, offshore or sub-sea. A wide range of topics are discussed including equipment design, operations management and performance optimisation. The course has been developed and is supported by experienced industry professionals, using authentic industry applications software, technical standards and engineering practices. For this level of academic qualification, students will be expected to demonstrate: A systematic understanding of the specialist knowledge acquired; A critical awareness of current industry challenges and available techniques for addressing them; Ability to deal with complex issues, and incomplete data, both systematically and creatively; Self direction and originality in tackling and solving problems; Initiative, personal responsibility and decision making skills; The independent learning ability required for continuous professional development; Clear communication of project conclusions to both specialist and non-specialist audiences
Course Fees
Full time: £9,700 PgDip; £2,700 MSc. Part time: £9,700 PgDip Stage; MSc Stage started course before 2006/07 £2,700; Msc Stage started course 2006/07 £2,700. Individual modules: £1,265 - £1,524 per 15 credit point module. Fees are subject to change.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have an Honours degree in Engineering or a related discipline. However, individuals may also be considered if they have other qualifications supported by considerable appropriate industry experience. Applicants for the Drilling and Well Engineering and the Field and Well Management courses are recommended to have several years experience of the oil and gas industry. Fluency in written and spoken English, with an IELTS score of at least 6.5 or equivalent is also necessary.
