Course Description
The objective of this full-time programme of study is to enable participants to develop the necessary knowledge and practical skills for entry on to a foundation-level course. This includes observational, analytical and research skills, the control of materials and processes in the realisation of ideas, the capacity to evaluate their work and the work of other participants and to establish communication skills with particular reference to studio language. Participants entering the course are given a timetable of projects, enabling them to prepare for tasks that lie ahead as well as evaluate and digest completed work. All projects must be completed. Beginning with basic drawing and observational skills, the coursework will progress through painting and colour theory, life drawing, 3D construction projects, clay and plaster casting, architectural drawing, photo media and design for the body. The English language tuition will emphasise speaking and listening skills especially within the context of English used in the art college environment. It will also include discussions about specialist art and design subjects that will be centred around visits to museums and galleries.

Entry Requirements
Participants must have IELTS level 4 in English language and should have started to establish a portfolio of drawings.
